- When you first bring it home it can be kept at room temperature.
Enjoy your bread spread with butter and delicious homemade sandwiches.
Heidelberg can be kept at room temperature for the first couple of days. - If you have any bread left by day 3, since there are no artificial preservatives in our breads we recommend you move it to the refrigerator. Have it for breakfast simply toasted and spread with butter and jam, or turned into French toast. Make grilled cheese sandwiches, garlic toast, or croutons for soups, use as base for panzanella salad or stuffing, or turn it into bread crumbs to be used in other recipes.
Depending on the weather, the temperature, or the humidity of your home, bread without artificial preservatives will either dry out or become moldy. So we suggest refrigerating your bread before any of these signs appear.
Bread can also be frozen to preserve it, so freeze your bread before Day 7 and it will last up to 3 months.
